Batch Processing
Overview
Firms who want to send data directly from their institution to Wealth Access from a given system or data warehouse can provide overnight batch files via secured FTP (SFTP) connection. This transfer of daily batch files between your institution and Wealth Access will require configuration by your firm to implement. Wealth Access can accommodate a flexible implementation of this transfer – accepting either push or pull transfers for the exchange.
Each integration is unique and requires knowledge of both the data available from the source system and the rules around the data. The Wealth Access Implementation and Product teams will consult and guide your business and technical teams in selecting and creating the file record types and formats that accomplish your business’ needs, in determining file structure/naming conventions, identifying unique client identifiers, and with relevant data mapping exercises.
Real World Solutions
Batch files provide a great option for integrating data that does not need to be updated in real time. Common uses cases are integrating bank data or data from a proprietary data warehouse into the Wealth Access platform.
Integrating FIS IBS Bank Data in the Wealth Access Platform
AMG National Trust used overnight batch data files to integrate FIS IBS bank data with Wealth Access. Their team automated a nightly process to export the required data from FIS and then transfer it to Wealth Access via a secure file transfer protocol method. The integration of the FIS IBS bank data alongside their trust platform data within Wealth Access, provided their customers with a comprehensive view of their AMG National Trust relationship within a single experience.
Integrating Data from a Proprietary Data Warehouse
Merit Financial Advisors used a similar process to integrate account data from their custom data warehouse. Overnight batch files are received for a host of various data providers via this integration. Wealth Access was able to work with the Merit Financial Advisors team and their consultants to establish a scalable solution for integrating not only the firm’s current data providers, but also any new feeds from data providers that may be added to their data warehouse at a future date.
By automating batch file transfers, these firms ensured clients had a reliable and updated view of all their data and saved valuable resources by eliminating the need for complex API development.
How to Get Started
Wealth Access offers a basic standard data format template that drives the minimum data requirements for the Wealth Access portal. Preferred format includes pipe-delimited, daily full refresh files. Please note, the layouts provided are minimum requirements and additional data points or file records may be required for your institution as determined by your firm’s business needs and/or based upon the data and format of data available from the designated integration source.
Data integrations will require development effort from the Wealth Access team to implement, and often from your firm as well. We ask that you please allow approximately 4-6 weeks for development following completion of agreed upon data specifications and validation efforts.
Process Overview
- Establish SFTP connection between your firm and Wealth Access – If pushing data to Wealth Access, a member of the Wealth Access team will provide you with SFTP credentials for data delivery.
- Consult with the Wealth Access team to determine appropriate file records and file formats for the integration.
- Create and configure chosen file records for batch processing.
- Determine and flag appropriate data for delivery to Wealth Access in daily files.
- Engage Wealth Access team to initiate test delivery and processing of test files once Wealth Access build of agreed upon integration is complete.
- Create nightly job for generation and transfer of daily batch files to Wealth Access.
- Validate data within the Wealth Access portal.
